Who are we?
Motif started as a completely ordinary poster shop.
We did everything. Cities, quotes, motifs, the usual stuff.
None of it was wrong. But it wasn't really us either.
Over time, we realized we were selling things we didn't believe in.
That we were designing things because they worked, not because we felt or believed in them.
At some point, we didn't want to do that anymore.
So we stopped chasing after everything and started being honest.
Today, Motif is a small art studio in Germany that creates designs based on our own beliefs.
It was important to us that our designs said something and still looked good.
Simple, modern, stylish. So that you're happy to hang them up and don't get tired of them after a short time. Motif combines content with design. Belief, attitude, meaning, but in a form that also works aesthetically.
Each piece is crafted with high-quality materials:
FSC-certified wood, matte, heavy paper, and plexiglass with natural reflections.
You can feel when something is made with love.
Currently, we offer two types of posters.
Designs that are also available unframed are intentionally printed on higher-quality paper. Other designs are only available framed because that's exactly how they were intended and how they only work.
We are currently in the process of consolidating everything into a clear model. Fewer variations, but consistently the quality we truly stand behind.
